Drawing Management System (DMS)

 AKA’s Drawing Management System (DMS), developed jointly by AKA and Transocean, manages drawing development and drawing related information (i.e. parts lists, etc). DMS applies discipline to the task of developing and maintaining drawings. With the information extracted from the engineering drawings, the DMS utility establishes the relationship between devices, functions and locations within an installation. Through its various reports and direct link to the drawings, the DMS utility facilitates efficiencies throughout the lifecycle of the systems from the initial engineering concept design to the end user’s trouble shooting and maintenance.

DMS:

  • Creates a link between the hardware (schematic) and the bills of material for each device;
  • Promotes discipline on the way that drawing information is created and managed;
  • Manages manufacturing and commissioning costs by producing error free procurement lists by vendor/manufacturer extracted from drawings;
  • Assists long term system operation by providing functional parts. The system maintainer can confidently diagnose faults and replace defective equipment using functional parts lists that are generated directly from the drawings;
  • Populates other applications such as a procurement systems or deviceTRAK by using device, function and location information extracted from DMS.
